The Host

Long ago, the Army of Light fought a demon-lord's horde. Many were slain, but some kept following their orders even in death. Alone, they could only haunt the fields and forests. But when enough of them gathered, they became something more, giving new life (of a kind) to the body of a fallen soldier. Now the Host stalks the ruins of battle, using the spirits' powers to fight the ancient enemy. He recalls some memories. But whether the body's spirit is his own, or that soul has moved on, he may never know. Yet what of it? It matters not if he "is" the man he seems, or a patchwork of ghosts, or something else. He has a mission. 

Entirely unconnected from the general family of characters, the Host was created to fit any role in the party, should a member perish far from home and resupply prove difficult.
